Bangkok - facts

Thailand's capital is Bangkok, also known as Krung Thep Maha Narkhon. It is Thailand's larges city, geographically as well as economically.
The city of Bangkok was founded in later part of the 18th century by king Taksin (RAMA I) after the fall of Ayhutthaya.

Bangkok became a city of disputes in the 20th century. After king Prajadhipog abdicated in 1935, after a coup. Thing cooled down and stability grew stronger for each day. With more and more westerners coming to Bangkok to invest. This has led to that Bangkok has made a name for itself as a economical and political centre in the region.

 

With a population of more than 9'000'000, Bangkok is the most populated city in Thailand. Due to the large amount of inhabitants the city of Bangkok has both a state of the art subway (MRT) and a very modern Sky train (BTS).
